the funniest (?) part was that this came in the midst of a lecture on respect

y’know in that way that new teachers who are terrified and they take that terror out on your class with aggression 

like contextually it was something like

“I grew up in a place where we value respect. So you will be respectful when you’re in my class. My biggest pet peeve is people talking while I talk. I won’t have any of that. Unless, I mean, you’re just exchanging a little something that’s not interrupting. Like I know from time to time you’re gonna wanna lean over to the person next to you and be like ‘Man, this class is so gay.’”

and i was so ready to be like

if you really value respect so much could you maybe not use gay as a slur
