one of the fascinating things i learned here is that the people who actually carry out the drone strikes along the afghan/pakistani border, the guys sitting in an office somewhere in the continental US with a joystick steering the damn thing towards its target or whatever, aren’t actually military personnel; they aren’t armed combatants
which makes what they’re doing, as someone here explained it to me, “so fucking illegal it isn’t even funny”
they’re basically mass murderers, as far as international law is concerned
also fun fact: they’re about as at-risk for PTSD as soldiers are
